Colin Farrell plays a war journalist in Kurdistan and returns from there with a trauma which engrosses the main story of the film.
The character played by Farrell was developed and real. It would be hard not to be emotionally effected by this film, and it would be hard not to leave with something to think about.
Very powerful images, war reality and a doctor playing “God”, deciding who lives and who dies.

To prepare for his role, Colin Farrell shed 44 pounds to achieve a skeletal-like thin appearance. To obtain this look, he reportedly lived on black coffee, Diet Coke, and tuna.
At the age of 86, actor Christopher Lee had to learn more lines of dialogue for his role in “Triage” than for any other film he has done before. His career spanned more than 60 years and over 300 film and TV productions.

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is a movie starring great names: Julia Roberts, Patrick Dempsey, Kathy Bates, Shirley MacLaine, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Eric Dane, Anne Hathaway, Queen Latifah, Hector Elizondo, Jamie Foxx, Jessica Biel. There are hardly supporting actors. Everybody has his/her own Valentine’s story.
It is a romantic comedy… obviously, released just in time for Valentine’s Day, commercial as the day itself. Nobody should have greater expectations…
The movie provides one surprise though: Eric Dane and Bradley Cooper… a couple. What a waste!

Up In The Air

Ryan Bingham (George Clooney) is a corporate downsizing expert whose cherished life on the road is threatened just as he is on the cusp of reaching ten million frequent flier miles and just after he’s met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.
His job is to fire people from theirs. The anguish, hostility, and despair of his “clients” has left him falsely compassionate, living out of a suitcase, and loving every second of it. When his boss hires arrogant young Natalie, she develops a method of video conferencing that will allow termination without ever leaving the office – essentially threatening the existence Ryan so cherishes. Determined to show the naive girl the error of her logic, Ryan takes her on one of his cross country firing expeditions, but as she starts to realize the disheartening realities of her profession, he begins to see the downfalls to his way of life.

It is not my favorite George Clooney movie but I must admit there are some messages appended to it.

Classic movies

A couple of days ago I watched The Deer Hunter. I remember my parents watching it and talking about it but I was too little to like it or understand it.
The Deer Hunter is a 1978 American war drama film co-written and directed by Michael Cimino about a trio of Russian American steel worker friends and their infantry service in the Vietnam War. It explores the moral and mental consequences of war violence and politically manipulated patriotism upon the meaning of friendship, honor, and family in a tightly knit community and deals with controversial issues such as suicide, post traumatic stress disorder, infidelity and mental illness. The film won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

It is a privilege to see two incredible stars like Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep together and so young. And seeing them I remembered another movie that they starred together in: Falling In Love. I had this movie on VCR tape and I watched it so many times. And yesterday I looked for it on the Internet and decided to watch some parts but I ended up watching it all.
There are new things you discover every time you re watch a movie, moreover when you watch it after 20 years.
It was nice to see the streets of New York back in 1984, the Christmas Tree outside Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, the Rockefeller Center skating rink and many other symbols such as the Big Brown Bag and the four-sided clock on the Main Concourse at Grand Central Station.
You get to realize how real a movie can be with people living in the suburbs and taking the train to the city. I’ve seen all that while in New York and this movie and many others seem therefore extremely real to me.

Luego he recibido un sentido mensaje.

The Blind Side

The Blind Side depicts the story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. At the same time, Oher’s presence in the Touhys’ lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own. Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. As a football player and student, Oher works hard and, with the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American offensive left tackle.

Sandra Bullock
does a wonderful job, so different that the other roles she has had in the past. Jae Head is charming as the young “brother” S.J.
Quinton Aaron played also magnificently. It is difficult to act while saying few words and he seemed most believable.
The movie manages to balance humor and drama perfectly.
